Membership
If you wish to become a member of the Northants RoADAR group and be trained in advanced driving with the aim to pass the RoADAR Advanced Driving Test, then first you should make an online enquiry. CLICK HERE by filling in our enquiry form online and clicking ‘submit’.
A free drive will be arranged for the various aspects of you're driving to be assessed.
At the end of the assessment drive the tutor will give you a detailed report and discuss with you a plan for your future training and ask you to complete a membership application form. CLICK HERE
Further training will require you to enrol as an associate member of Northants RoADAR.
Your membership application form and subscription of £10 will be received by our Membership Secretary who will allocate you to a tutor. He will then let you have your tutor's contact details and ask you to contact him to make arrangements for your future observed drives.
Once you have reached test standard you will be given a pre-test drive by one of our advanced tutors to make sure that you are ready for your test.
The test fee of £48, (£41 if you are under 26 years of age), which includes your first annual subscription to RoADAR, will be conducted by a class 1 Police driver for a period of about 1½ hours covering a wide variety of roads and conditions.
You may be awarded either a Bronze, Silver or Gold pass and you become a full member of RoSPA.
If you fail your initial test you may take a re-test between three and six months later for which you will be expected to pay a fee. The cost for a re-test is £25 for car, £35 for a motorcycle and £40 for LGV.
A re-test to obtain a higher grade will be charged at the full test rate.
Once you have passed your test, you will be required to maintain your standard of driving by taking a re-test every three years, this is free to Members. When your retest is due you will be send a reminder and booking form. You must take your retest within a reasonable time of the due date in order to keep your Membership.
You must also continue to pay your annual subscriptions to the local Northants RoADAR £10 and the National RoADAR £22.50.
